The Minutemen are very highly regarded nowadays (and rightly so), but I think a lot of people didn't know what to make of them at the time. I was instantly a fan the first time I saw them, when they shared a bill at the On Broadway with the Meat Puppets in 1982. I'd come for the Meat Puppets, but when I got home all I could talk about was the Minutemen.
