Here we are in late 1989, just after a near-death experience crashing our first van, the "X-tal Valdez" on a steep downhill grade just outside of Grant's Pass, Oregon. We rented a Chevrolet station wagon, strapped the drums on top, and continued driving through the rain on our first Northwest mini-tour. Mick's kick drum remained elliptical afterwards.
